Simple Feng Shui Tips for the Home

Feng Shui beliefs originated from the Taoist belief that nature is living and it contains energy in many forms. It contains old Chinese art and science and it focuses on creating balance and harmony between man and his or her surroundings.

Lots of contemporary aficionados declare that Feng Shui is basically the arrangement of objects in the house in order to let the positive energy in. Here are some of the Feng Shui home tips that can be done easily:

1. Marble tables do not bring goodness in the home for it only allows stress to overflow. A sofa that is colored red is also not a good idea for it can enhance obstacles and problems in work. You must remove the marble table if there is one and substitute a wooden table instead. As for the red sofa, you must get another sofa with on any other color.

2. Lighting is very vital in a room for it is the ultimate energy source. As for rooms where natural light is not available that much, painting the walls yellow is a good idea for it signifies light from the sun.

3. The bed in the room must be situated beside a wall. When you sleep, your feet must not face the door for it contains a negative meaning. Moreover, you must not put a mirror near your bed where you can see yourself lying down for it also has negative meaning. You must remove it or cover it with a blanket while you sleep.

4. Doorways should not be full of many things like shoes and the like. The entrance to the house must be cleared so that Qi can freely enter the house or room. The seating should also be situated properly in a way that nobody sees the door.

5. Mirrors inside the room aids in letting positive energy reside in the room. They increase the quantity of light that goes into the room so that the room may seem to become bigger that it normally is, which makes the room cozy.

6. Nature can be represented by plants and putting them inside the room can bring healing and nurturing. But once the plants die, they can attract negative energy so you have to bring them out of the room right away.

7. You have to make sure that refrigerator, dishwashers, washing machines, and sinks are not place in an opposite position to the stove. When water and fire clash, they can bring negative vibes such as disagreements in the room, especially the members of the family that reside in it.

8. Do not let your kids sleep on the floor for it can trigger sickness in them. The positive energy that flows under the bed is good for our health. That is why your kids should sleep in beds with spaces underneath. But double bunk beds are not recommended for the person who is sleeping on the bottom can get sickness more often.

9. Disorders or clutters inside a room can bring negative energy as well. There should always be positive energy flowing in every corner of your room. Once clutter is present, it must be removed out of the house, especially at the central part of the house because it serves as the heart of the house.

10. Bathrooms must be maintained and the door to it must be close all the time in order to keep the bad energies away. Closing the doors in all parts of the home can also help remove the bad energies and bring in health domestic relationships and good health instead.

If you are a beginner in learning about Feng Shui, you must know that using certain tools is the only way to create a balanced home. You must stick with the fundamental aspects first in order to draw the positive energy inside your house.

Chinese Horoscope – The Origin

A very long time ago, Ruler of China, the Jade Emperor, decided to make a change in the Zodiac cycle so that people would find it easy to track the time. He sent a message to all the animals asking them to come together so that he could allocate a year to each of them. As the legend goes, the Cat and the Rat were good friends. Upon getting the message they decided to travel together to meet the Emperor.  Cats as we all know tend to be a bit of sleepyheads. They were no different centuries ago as well. So in the morning when it was time to go, the Cat was still sleeping and the clever Rat ignoring all their plans from yesterday decided to leave quietly and alone. He left his sleeping friend behind and was the first to arrive in the Emperor’s palace. The Cat woke up a little later to find his co called friend long gone. After this incident the Cats could never be Rats’ friends.

There are many versions of the folk story. Another interesting version tells that Emperor Jade invited animals to a meeting. He also announced that the years in the calendar would be named after the animals’ names and in the order of their arrival. The location for the meeting was across the river. Rat and Cat were not the best of the swimmers but they were clever, the Rat being cleverer of the two. Together they decided to ask the Ox for help in crossing the river. Ox was kind and strong. He agreed to help. Midway across the river the Rat got rid of the Cat by pushing it into the river and as soon as they came close to the river bank, he jumped off the Ox’s back and hence received the honour of being the first animal on the zodiac calendar. Ox was not far behind and was awarded the second place right away. Ox was followed by the Tiger. Tiger arrived huffing and puffing. He said it was no easy feat to cross the strong currents of the river but he managed to do so due to his physical prowess. He received the honour of being the third animal to have a spot in the calendar.

Not long after the Tiger hopped the Rabbit into the emperor’s palace. He had managed to cross the river by jumping from one rock to another and then got a hold of a log that helped him get to the bank safely. He automatically was appointed to the fourth spot. The mighty Dragon was the next to arrive on the scene. The Emperor could not stop himself from inquiring the Dragon as to why he was not there sooner. The Dragon replied that he was delayed as he was busy making rain for mankind and also he saw a small Rabbit struggling to get to the shore, so he decided to help him. He gently puffed air in the Rabbit’s direction until the log it was hanging onto reached the river bank. Those were good enough reasons for the Emperor and he happily assigned the fifth spot to the Dragon. Not long after the Dragon had taken his spot, a galloping sound was heard and a Horse appeared on the scene. As soon as he arrived he realized that a Snake had been hiding under its hoof, which scared him. The Snake could not have a better opportunity to move in and secure the sixth spot for himself. Horse had to resign to the seventh place.

The emperor had not much time to spare before he saw the Goat, the Monkey and the Rooster coming his way. They were comrades and had helped each other cross the river. The Rooster had found a raft for themselves and the other two helped row it across the river. Their efforts bore fruit and they were able to receive eighth, ninth and tenth spots respectively. Next to secure the eleventh spot was the Dog. He had spent quite a bit of time playing in the river so he was late in spite of his expertise as a swimmer. Only remaining spot was taken by the Pig, which stopped to eat and then fell asleep. But good for him as he was late and still found the only remaining spot in the calendar. Cat was the thirteenth to arrive on the scene, which meant all the spots were already taken and nothing was left for him.

Another interesting twist is added to the folk story in the version which tells that the Rat realized that the Ox was strong and perhaps its best option for crossing the river. So it decided to trick him into taking him across. He asked the Ox if it would be interested in listening to a song. The simple Ox said yes. In response the rat moved his lips but uttered no sound. The Ox said he could not hear it, to which the Rat responded by saying that he would be able to hear him if he was closer to his ear. The Ox still not understanding Rat’s true intent allowed him to ride his back. Before he realized they had crossed the river and the Rat jumped off his back and ran to claim the first spot for himself. The Ox followed and the rest of the animals came in later.

Buddhism has another explanation of the story. According to them, before leaving the Earth, Buddha invited all animals to meet him. Only twelve came and in order to recognise their loyalty, Buddha assigned them each one year in the order they had arrived to meet him.

Last but not the least is a version that tells that the God had invited animals to a banquet. The ever clever Rat loved to make a fool of the Cat. He informed the Cat that the dinner was not that night but the night after. He left the sleeping cat, securing a spot for himself in the calendar and leaving the Cat with nothing. This extremely angered the Cat and he could never be Rat’s friend again.

The existing version of the Zodiac calendar has been in the making for hundreds of years. It`s real origin is impossible to find. Historians tend to agree that the reason for the absence of the Cat in the calendar is because Cat was only introduced into China later on by the Buddhists, who had brought it with them from India.

The Yin and Yang of Feng Shui

You must be wondering if Feng Shui is truly for both men and women. Even though there are no questions about the idea that Feng Shui has the ability to attract positive energy into the home by simply arranging furniture and placing them in the proper places, it can still bring a lot of information regarding culture if you look hard enough.

The Yin and Yang are very well-known as a feature of Feng Shui. It means that both the Ying and Yang are important in order to value the loveliness of every little or big thing. It states that it is impossible to appreciate the good without the bad, darkness, and others. This idea of opposites and harmony is also related to the earth’s elements: earth, fire, water, wind, and wood. All of these elements are in harmony if positive Feng Shui exists.

Yin has characters like power, capability, assertiveness, and it is ascribed as masculinity. Alternatively, the Yang side is characterized by weakness, femininity, and softness of things. You may ask if this is a good thing because our world is in majority to males.

The concept of Feng Shui is already put in order by its scope. When you inquire regarding Feng Shui to a person, he or she can tell you about the symbols: Yin and Yang, the Bagua, and the charms that are utilized by Feng Shui professionals in order to remove the bad energy. But the major ideas on Feng Shui are not all original. One Greek philosopher named Heraclitus gets credit for denoting the idea of Yin and Yang. Subsequently, psychology on colors and other visual media can refer to a few theories that are related to the teachings of Feng Shui.

What is interesting is that many women are attracted to Feng Shui practice, which is quite weird because they are supporting a belief that states men are strong while females are weak. Other than the Yin and Yang idea, there are no visible accounts that states gender bias.

Another thing that must be troubling people is that if Feng Shui is worth applying for. The answer to this question is comparative for it depends on the person where the question came from and his or her life background. If the person is born in an unprejudiced culture where restrictions on what you can or cannot do are less, then applying Feng Shui in your life is not going to be difficult. In the meantime, you may experience lifestyle changes because you may be under a group where the members oppose the major views on Feng Shui.

Moreover, Feng Shui also has its own Yin and Yang. If you are interested in going to the deeper Feng Shui, you have to research and read on promotional materials and even hate the ones that speak against Feng Shui. Changes are not really a problem when you apply Feng Shui because Feng Shui is harmless in nature and it does not include major alterations in your life and beliefs.

However, if you like to be more careful, you can read more and you will eventually discover that aside from the layers of promotion, Feng Shui is absolutely more than just a simple rearrangement of furniture.

Feng Shui Home Tips

The West has now started to practice Feng Shui which was formerly known as an ancient Chinese practice alone. It aspires for stability in a place so that individuals will have a better way of living. This article provides some Feng Shui advices that can be done in the home to acquire the good “Chi”.

The Doorway and Chi

In your home, the first place you can start with is the doorway which must be maintained to be open and free from mess. You have to take off shoes or slippers that are lying around your doorway. It is believed in Feng Shui that the positive “Chi” flows with the wind. That is why if your shoes or slippers are lying around your doorway, it can bring in the smell of your shoes or slippers which may bring sickness in the members of the family.

Once the positive “Chi” enters the house, it will try to look for water to reside in. When water is absent in your home such as in the form of water fountains and aquariums, the positive “Chi” can be swept away by the wind.

Water Tanks and Water Fountains

Because water is connected with the positive “Chi,” it is advisable to have water in the home and place it in the proper place. Water fountains and aquariums should be placed in places that can draw the positive “Chi” inside the home. However, if they are placed in the wrong places, the opposite outcomes can occur.

Misfortune and bad luck happens because of an improper positioning. When you notice that you have placed water fountains and aquariums in the wrong place, you must relocate it at once.

The Kitchen and “Chi”

When you are styling your kitchen, you have to ensure that the refrigerator is placed in the opposite of the stove because these appliances tolerate water and fire. When fire and water clash, it can give the members of the family bad luck at home like misunderstandings. It is also similar with the stove being placed opposite with the washing machine or wash basin in the kitchen.

The Living Room and Feng Shui

According to the Feng Shui belief, if you happen to experience extensive stress at your workplace, the marble table can be the cause. What you can do is work your way out of the stress or you can also replace the marble table inside your home with a table that is made out of wood.

In the similar way, color also has an effect on particular things in Feng Shui. An example is a red sofa in the living room which can give more stress and troubles rather than relief. This color does not only coordinate with certain areas inside your house.

These are only a few of the Feng Shui advices that can be done at home. If you start to do these, you can assure that the positive “Chi” can overcome your home and put in the good side.

Enhancing Your Life with Feng shui

The old practice of Feng shui is one of the older kinds of geomancy and has been around for nearly 3, 500 years since early China. Feng Shui, which means water and wind, practices the belief that qi or the important energy can influence the life of a person a lot through a stable synchronized environment.

In order to use Feng Shui, the connection between man and his or her surroundings must be recognized. One has to arrange every object and furniture inside and outside the home or even in the workplace so that the qi can be located in a continuous free flowing place and therefore give positive vibes in the house and the lives of each member of the house. This belief is continuously applied today and this article can give a few methods on how to create balance and harmony in our lives.

Making use of the Five Phases Method

There are five phases of fire: earth, water, wood, and metal which this method relies upon. All these four elements are connected to each other through a rotating cycle where fire creates earth, earth creates metal, metal creates water, and water creates wood.  Every element signifies a specific direction such as water is situated in the north, fire is situated in the south, wood is situated in the east, metal is situated in the west, and earth is situated at the center.

One great way to make use of this method is to ensure that the house or workplace has these elements so that it is capable of creating good qi. If not, then one specific element may have the possibility to oppose the other elements and can result to a bad qi.

Making use of the Flying Stars Method

The Flying Stars Method is the hardest method to use in Feng Shui because it records the house’s or workplace’s date of establishment, complete floor plan, and the place’s external environment. It is the same with taking your birth sign in astrology but this time, it is known as the birth sign of your home or office.

Even though this method is complicated, its results are more accurate because it is normally done by expert practitioners of the skill. It aims to attain the harmony of the place through looking for the good elements that can help enhance and eliminate the bad elements that has to be removed.

Making Use of the Eight Mansions Method

One well-known method of Feng Shui is the eight mansions method or also known as the Ba Zhai. The Ba Zhai entails the calculation of your kua number, which is rooted in your date of birth. This method can aid you in determining the positive direction for every kua number relates to one specific direction.

The Ba Zhai also aims to look for the good directions and eliminate the bad ones. It also aids you in discovering the compatibility of you and your house or workplace so that you can be more industrious in your career, health, relationships, and luck.

Feng Shui-Proof Your Life

There are so many testimonies that you can hear about the effectiveness and success of Feng Shui throughout so many years. The idea is simple and easy to understand and you can benefit a lot in order to acquire stability and harmonization in your life. You must only recognize the importance of qi and ensure that all things in your environment can bring you peace and tranquility.
